Fiat India Automobile Private Limited (FIAPL) launches its most awaited car, Fiat 500. FIAPL is a joint venture with Fiat Group Automobiles and Tata Motors. The company employs almost 600 employees at its facility at Ranjangaon in Pune.

Fiat launches its iconic car "500" in India at a grand celebration in Mumbai. The glittering celebration coupled with 500 smiles from the cream of Mumbai made a warm welcome to Fiat 500 at the Taj Land"s End in Mumbai. The CEO of Fiat, Mr. Rajeev Kapoor, top officials of Fiat and Tata and movers and shakers of Mumbai congregated at Taj Land to celebrate and enjoy the rhythm of 500 driving in with elegance and style. Mansi Scott, Isha Sharvani (contemporary dancer) and Jayesh Sachdev (modern artist) added joy, glamour and music to the ambience. The celebration was attributed to the true Italian style.

Fiat 500 is popularly known as Fiat Cinquecento in Italy and was originally designed by Dante Giocosa. Fifty years down the line in the year 1957, the car made its first launch in Turin. After that the car was launched in several other cities in Italy. Immediately after that the car made its entry in Europe, London and Berlin. Today, exactly after 50 years, Fiat launches a revamped version of 500 dedicated to the passionate Fiat 500 lovers. The car is launched in one of the most growing economies, India, with high expectations and hopes.

The re-launch of this small car has fueled the lost memories of the Indians. To regain the lost memories, Fiat made a comeback to India with highly advanced and refurbished model of 500. With the refurbished version, Fiat promises enhanced performance and effectiveness to all its customers. The hidden reason behind the comeback is not the car sale and money but the lost hold in the market. The company desires to re-establish a strong niche in the Indian car market.

A wide range of colors available is the most exciting and thrilling aspect of the Fiat 500. It is available in 11 different colors including Jive Blue, Breakfast Grey, Bossa Nova White, Mod Blue, Crossover Black, Pasodoble Red, Ye Ye Green, Tropicalia Yellow, Cha Cha Cha Azure, Calypso Orange, and Punk Grey.

Lounge and Sport are two trims available with 1.3L multijet enginemotor that converts thermal energy to mechanical work compliant to Euro 5 emission norms. The new car also has best in class safety features with 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. These trims are also loaded with airbags, seat back pockets, body colored electric drive door mirrors with defrost, folding rear seat, dual drivecontrol movement of vehicle; travel or convey in vehicle; ride taken in vehicle electric power steering, remote central locking, anti-lock brakes, height adjustable driver"s seat, and many more attractive features.

The only difference between the two trims is the sporty appearance given to all features of the Sport Fiat 500. Lounge is equipped with leather steering wheel mounted with Blue&Me controls, 15 inch alloy wheels, fixed glass roof and passenger seat storage. On the other hand, Sport has some sort of sporty appearance in the leather steering wheel mounted with Blue&Me controls, 15 inch sport alloy wheels, dark tinted rear windows and spoiler.

"Blue & Me" is another interesting feature of 500. This is automobile software introduced by Fiat and Microsoft to resolve the issues of in-car communication, infotainment and entertainment. The system runs on Microsoft"s latest edition of Windows Mobile for Automotive and is compatible with a range of Bluetooth equipped devices.
