How To Find A Credit Repair Program That Works

If you have spent longer than a minute online looking for a decent credit repair program, you already know there are literally hundreds of different books, manuals, guides, and services available to you. On the surface, it would seem relatively easy to choose which direction to go. After all, most of the credit repair services and programs have impressive websites, chock-full of glowing testimonials and irresistible guarantees promising you AAA credit in just a few weeks. Sound familiar?

Unfortunately, thousands of people each year fall victim to using less than reputable credit counseling or repair companies. Or even worse, damaging their reputation and risking prosecution from the federal government by following useless, out-dated credit repair information found in various re-hashed "how to" books across the Internet.

So, how can make sure the program you are considering is actually reputable and will work? Here are a few simple steps you can take immediately before spending a single cent of your hard-earned money:

1. Credit Repair Books Or Manuals - Make Sure They Are Updated

If you have a credit repair program in mind, visit the website where the guide is being sold. Look for anything with a date on it. Check the copyright date, any dated articles or blog posts, etc. Chances are, if their website is out of date. .. their product could be as well.

Also, check the links on the promoter's website. If you find they are also promoting motorcycle repair and tattoo removal products, then credit repair probably isn't their forte.

2. Ask For Proof Of Results

Whether you choose to buy a credit repair book or hire a service, always demand proof that their techniques work. Oftentimes, proof comes in the form of testimonials from satisfied customers, screenshots of removals from credit reports, or even before and after photos of FICO scores. This should be the minimum amount of proof you accept before buying.

I recommend emailing the company and asking for additional proof, if you are so inclined. Not only may they provide you with additional proof, but you also get a feel for what their customer service is like and whether they respond promptly or not.

3. Check The "Testimonials"

If you are using a service especially, you will want to ask customer service if it is possible to speak with a few satisfied clients about their experience with the company. The credit repair service should have access to all the clients' personal information, including phone number. And a prominent service should have at least one or two recently satisfied clients willing to speak with you.

In any event, just perform your due-diligence beforehand and "go with your gut". Remember, this is your personal credit life you are entrusting to someone. Make sure the credit repair program you choose is worthy of that honor.
